“Pihu” my African Grey Parrot 🐣…..love ❤️You

“Pihu”

is our African Grey Parrot….a full time family member with us and the virtues are….he wakes me up with a long kiss 😘 and pampers me by calling me “Mitu” “Mitu”the moment I enter home from Office.

I will have to rewind on a Time machine to go back to 2006 or 2007.I got my transfer to Siliguri in West Bengal a cosmopolitan city with most beautiful climate next to Bangalore in Karnataka.

The same year on 2006 our only daughter went to Kota for her studies and it was just me and wife there at Siliguri. I was tenant to a land lady who had rented us a beautiful and well designed house 🏡 with lots of trees 🌲 on the backyard and they had already so many tiny Love ❤️ birds 🐦 as pets with them .

I will mention here a common interest between me and my wife that, she also had a love ❤️ for birds 🐦 particularly Parrots from her childhood just like me. The land lady inspired both of us to keep a parrot because we both were fond of parrots and ultimately we went to Kolkata to have one Alexjendrine Parrot baby 👶.

The First Alexjandrine Parrot baby .
His name was Bebo and since he was raised from a very tender age of 1 month baby he was very much mingled up with both of us.
Day by day our passion to keep Parrot grew at a greater pace and one of our neighbours a friend from our own state Odisha handed over their Moustached Parakeet…

Such a beautiful Parrot the “Moustached parakeet” is
and he was very much attached to my wife .

Watching varieties of Parrots of the world 🌎 became a hobby for both of us and that inner passion led us to think of keeping a “African Grey Parrot” but it was very costly those  days .Later on when I got a promotion cum transfer to Buxar in Bihar one fine morning both of us decided to go for it…..ultimately .

There came Pihu in our Life….it’s his first picture I took when he arrived at our residence at Buxar. A cute bird with his feathers yet to come . I remember those days when wife had to feed him with a syringe a Belgium 🇧🇪 food mix (baby feed mix) that we bought from a Kolkata from where we took Pihu.

A naughty Boy….I used to call him .As if he is ready for a pose any time.Portrait master Pihu in Pose.Graceful in looks and his attire…Pihu is a great thinker….Pihu loves the shower time the most .

I have seen the Love ❤️ in his eyes…

It’s almost more than 5
years this cute African Grey Parrot Pihu is with us .We have been transferred to different places inside India but thank God we got some one or other to take care in our absence. Though Pihu loves non veg foods but we restrict it to pure veg foods 🥘 like soaked peas and grapes 🍇 or apple 🍎 in the morning followed by Rice and dal at noon time . During after noon he loves to have Sun flower seeds followed by an Oats meal 🥘 at dinner time. Pihu is always in open inside our house 🏡 and just enters in to his cage at night time to sleep 😴.

It’s a journey of life together with Pihu as if he is our own kid . African Grey parrots have a pretty long life span of say 50-60 years and one has to think a lot before adopting a grey parrot because the rest of the life they become a co-doweller.

The naughty boy with a #RedChilli in hand.

I will say from experience with Pihu that he undestands both of Us so well…during time of distress and emotional down days….Pihu is always by our side.He is too much emotionally attached with both of us.I feel getting a friend like Pihu has altogether changed our meaning for Life….

I dedicate my Blog on Pihu to all bird lovers and particularly African Grey Parrot lovers across the Globe 🌎.

A lovely 😊 bird 🐦 to love ❤️ and live together with…..Pihu

I have’nt read it before it was a pleasure gaining so much knowledge about parrots. I agree with you that be human or pets if not given proper care can run into mental disorders. Pets can reciprocate your love feelings but cannot scream aloud their anger their anguish their pain. If you cannot understand their silence you can never understand their words. Their love is unconditional no ego, no materialistic exchanges .pure love neither they will deceit u whether the time is good or bad.ameen

Yes Grey Parrots being most intelligent as pets go to depressions like we human beings if not attended and cared. We read a lot about caring Grey parrots before adopting Pihu.

So adorable. It’s a good thing that parrots have such long life span. They are truly companions for life.

      1. swalia says:

I have heard that parrots in general have long life as compared to dogs.

      2. CreativeSiba says:

        Yes
Even Indian Ringnecks live for 15-18 years

      3. swalia says:

I had a few parrots before Genie too. Three at a time but unfortunately lost all of them.

      4. CreativeSiba says:

Grey parrots , Macaw & Kakatoos live 50-60 years
They suffer from human like diseases and go into mental disorder if not cared in a proper way
        I mean as pets

      5. swalia says:

Mental disorder??? That’s interesting to know. Pets definitely need our love and attention. If we can’t treat them as family then we should better not keep them.

  5. What a lovely and lucky bird to have found human parents that treat him like their real child.
